Event Announcement
The AfriPeace Development Foundation is thrilled to announce the first international virtual program for 2020 themed: Voices of Peace and Racial Justice from Emerging Peace Leaders: US-Africa Perspectives. The global pandemic has revealed the systemic imbalances and disparities that exist across the globe in domains of health and human security, with injustice and racism amplified in the United States. The 2020 international virtual program will bring together young peacebuilders across the U.S. and Africa to share perspectives, insights, and exchange ideas in response to the current crisis of racial justice in the U.S. and revelations of vulnerabilities of the global COVID-19 pandemic. More than ever, young people have not waited to be included in the conversations that shape a more just and peaceful world. Their perspectives are often building momentum for change.
Confirmed emerging leaders to join panel include Helina Haile (US), Micaiah Palmer (US), Ephraim Emah (Nigeria), Hafsa Ahmed (Kenya), and Erinn Leone (US). The event’s opening speaker will be Dr. Ernest Uwazie, President/Founder of Afripeace & Professor/Chair of Criminal Justice, and Director of the Center for African Peace Conflict Resolution, California State University, Sacramento
The program is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 1:00 pm (Eastern Time - US & Canada) or 8:00 pm (East African Time). The virtual event will attract participation from across the globe via a zoom conference call to be hosted by AfriPeace.
