SUMMER 2010 JULY 8 - AUGUST 5, 2010 DRAFT ITINERARY
DAY 1: Thursday, July 8 - ARRIVAL Arrival Meet and greet at KIA. Transfer to accommodation site, PINK HOSTEL. Dinner at hostel
DAY 2: Friday, July 9 - ORIENTATION & CITY TOUR Breakfast at the hotel.
Briefing of Group Leaders by Programmes Coordinator at SYTO. Safety and Cross-Cultural Orientation at SYTO. Visit the bank/forex bureau to change money. Lunch at Grand Ecuyer restaurant. Language lessons. Drumming and Dance lessons. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 3: Saturday, July 10 Travel to Akosombo for Boat Cruise. Spend the night at the Mountain Paradise in Fiakpa.
DAY 4: Sunday, July 11 Morning hike into the forest. Travel to Wli waterfalls. Participate in night entertainment which includes storytelling and drumming and Dance. Overnight at Homestay in Tafi Atome.
DAY 5: Monday, July 12 Morning activities in Tafi Atome (Includes forest hike and village walk) Travel to Akwakwaa to begin community service at Orphanage (Option of homestay or hostel)
DAY 6 - 12: July 13 - 19. Community Service: Options include (working in an orphanage which would include teaching, painting, sporting activities etc, teaching during vacation, working on construction sites, eco-tourism projects)
DAY 13: Tuesday July 20 Leave village after breakfast. Travel to Cape Coast. Arrival and check in at Sanaa Lodge. Lunch at the hotel. Tour of Cape Coast Castle and the University of Cape Coast. Lecture on Culture of Ghana and the youth Overnight.
DAY 14: Wednesday, July 21 Breakfast from the hotel. Depart to Kakum Nature Park for tour of the park and Canopy. Walk. Lunch at Hans Cottage botel.
Continue to visit the Elmina Castle , Posuban Shrine and tour of the township. Relax at the Brenu Beach for debriefing. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 15: Thursday, July 22 - TRIP TO THE WEST COAST Depart to Takoradi, stopover at Fort Sabastian in Shama and the River Pra estuary. Tour of Sekondi Fishing Harbour. Continue to Green Turtle Lodge.
DAY 16: Friday, July 23 Tour of the West Coast which involves Butre, Busua and Dixcove Drumming and Dance performance and discussions on the efforts Green Turtle is making to conserve the turtles along the coast.
DAY 17: Saturday, July 24 - ASHANTI TRIP Depart to Kumasi. Walking tour of Kejetia and a visit to the Okomfo Anokye Sword site.
DAY 18: Sunday, July 25 - TOUR OF THE CRAFT VILLAGES Breakfast. Tour of Manhyia Palace Museum. Visit the craft villages of Bonwire, (Kente weavers), Ntonso (Adinkra cloth) and Ahwiaa (Wood carvings). Dinner and Overnight.
DAY 19: Monday, July 26 - MOLE TRIP Travel to Mole. Stopover at Kintampo Falls.
DAY 20: Tuesday, July 27 Early Morning Safari. Visit Larabanga Mosque and Mystic stone. Visit Mognori for evening entertainment (Cultural Drumming and Dance). Overnight.
DAY 21: Wednesday, July 28 - (Homestay) Depart to Tamale after breakfast. City tour of Tamale. Visit the local people of Tamale and participate in their Daily activities such as preparation of indigenous meals, drumming and dance, smock making etc Visit the cultural centre and the central market.
DAY 22: Thursday, July 29 Travel to Bolga. Return to Tamale.
DAY 23: Friday, July 30 Depart to Kumasi. Stopover at the Tano Sacred Grove enroute to Kumasi.
DAY 24: Saturday, July 31 Depart Kumasi to Abiriw. Lunch enroute. Dinner with Hostfamilies.
DAY 25: Sunday, August 1 Visit the Okonfo Anokye shrine at Awukugwa. Lunch with Host families. Visit the Aburi Gardens. Overnight with hostfamilies.
DAY 26: Monday, August 2 Return to Accra. Visit to Nkrumah circle/mausoleum, DuBois Center and Cultural center
DAY 27: Tuesday, August 3 Interact with secondary students (Crisis Scenario) session to be managed by Afripeace. Meet the Chief Justice. Visit NGO working with street children in Accra.
DAY 28: Wednesday, August 4 - DEPARTURE SYTO Evaluation. Departure.

Ghana
