Day 1: Wednesday, July 9th - Arrival
  • 6:15pm Arrival on KLM; Meet and greet at Kotoka International Airport(KIA), Accra, by SYTO staff
  • Transfer to accommodation site, Pink Hostel, Accra
  • Dinner at hostel
Day 2: Thursday, July 10th - Orientation & City Tour
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Briefing of Group/ Leaders by
  • Program Coordinator at SYTO
  • Safety and Cross-Cultural Orientation at SYTO
  • Visit the bank/forex bureau to change money
  • Lunch at Grand Ecuyer restaurant
  • Tour of the following sites: Nkrumah Circle, National Museum, Nkrumah mausoleum, Independence Square
  • Dinner

  • Overnight at hostel
Day 3: Friday, July 11th
  • Breakfast at the hostel
  • Visit the University of Ghana for a tour of the place and have lecture on ‘Ghanaian culture/society, politics and the youth.’

Day 4: Saturday July 12th

  • Twi, music and drumming lessons at SYTO

Day 5: Sunday July 13th

  • Church service at Wesley Methodist, Accra
  • Visit the Kokrobite Beach for Traditional Drumming and Dance performance

Day 6: Monday July 14th - Accra - Cape Coast Trip
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Lecture on US - Ghana relations at USIS (to be arranged by SYTO)
  • Meet the Chief Justice
  • Lunch
  • Depart for Cape Coast
  • Arrival and check in at Sanaa Lodge
  • Bus Tour of Cape Coast
  • Dinner/Overnight
  • Group Debriefing
Day 7: Tuesday July 15th
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Depart to Kakum Nature Park-tour of the park and canopy walk
  • Lunch at Hans Cottage botel
  • Continue to visit the Elmina & Cape Coast Castles/slave dungeons
  • Relax at Brenu Beach for group debriefing & dinner
  • Overnight at hotel
Day 8: Wednesday July 16th
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Lecture on Ghanaian culture & youth by Mr. Nkunu Akyea
  • Tour of Elmina Township
  • Lunch
  • Depart to Takoradi, stopover at Fort Sabastian
  • Shama and the River Pra Estuary
  • Arrive and Overnight at Hotel Deruko in Takoradi
Day 9: Thursday July 17th
  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Check out hotel and have a tour of Sekondi Fishing Harbour
  • Continue to Green Turtle Lodge for lunch; drumming and dance performance; discussion on efforts that Green Tutle lodge is making to conserve the turtles.

Day 10: Friday July 18th
  • Breakfast at the lodge
  • Tour of the west coast which involves Butre, Busua and Dixcove, including the fishing communities of Dixcove and Fort Metal Cross, Busua and Butre; visit the remains of fort Batenstein; canoe ride on the Butre river.
  • Lunch at the Hideout restaurant
  • Return to Green Turtle lodge
  • Group Debriefing
  • Dinner/overnight
Day 11: Saturday July 19th
  • Breakfast at the lodge
  • Visit Nzuleso, the village on Stilts and have a walking tour of the Ankasa Game reserve; visit Beyin and take the boat to Nzulezo for tour and lunch in the community.

Day 12: Sunday, July 20
  • Breakfast
  • Depart for Offinso, stopover at the Asin Manso Slave Route
  • Lunch
  • Arrival at Offinso and check in at homestay
  • Group Debriefing at the project site: Community Service: Help in the construction of hostel facility for Future Island
  • Orphanage at Offinso-Ashanti
Day 13-17: July 21-25
  • Community service at the orphanage in Offinso-Ashanti.
  • Group debriefing, daily
Day 18: Saturday, July 26th - Ashanti Trip
  • Breakfast at homestay
  • Depart to Kumasi
  • Check in at the Hasta hotel
  • Walking tour of Kejetia and a visit to the Okomfo Anokye Sword site, and cultural center
  • Dinner/overnight
Day 19: Sunday, July 27th - Tour Of The Craft Villages
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Church service
  • Tour of the Manhyia Palace
  • Visit the craft villages of Bonwire, (Kente weavers), Ntonso (Adinkra cloth) and Ahwiaa (Wood carvings)
  • Group Debriefing

Day 20: Monday, July 28th - Mole Trip
  • Breakfast at the Hotel
  • Check out of hotel and Depart to Mole
  • Stopover at Kintampo Waterfalls
  • Lunch at the fall’s restaurant
  • Arrival/check in at park motel
  • Dinner and Overnight at motel
Day 21: Tuesday, July 29st
  • Early morning Safari at Park
  • Breakfast
  • Visit community tourist sites in Mognori (Canoe ride, village walk and Cultural Drumming and Dance)
  • Evening Safari

Day 22: Wednesady, July 30th - Mole - Tamale Trip
  • Breakfast at motel
  • Depart to Tamale and stop over at the Larabanga Mosque and the Mystic stone
  • Arrival in Tamale and check in at Radach Institute
  • Lunch
  • Courtesy call on the Imam of Tamale
  • Group Debriefing

Day 23: Thursday, July 31st

  • Visit the cultural centre and the central market

  • Stopover at the Tano Sacred Grove enroute to Kumasi

  • Stopover at Bobire Butterfly Sanctuary

Day 26: Sunday August 3rd - Volta Trip
  • Breakfast at hotel; check out of hotel
  • Drive to Wli Waterfalls and spend the afternoon there
  • Lunch at the Water heights hotel
  • Travel to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary
  • Arrival and checkin with homestay and have community walk.
  • Participate in night entertainment which includes story telling and drumming and dance
  • Dinner/Overnight at Homestay in Tafi Atome
Day 27: Monday, August 4th
  • Early morning hike in the forest to view monkeys
  • Breakfast with host family
  • Return to Accra, with lunch stopover at the Chicken Inn in Tema
  • Visit the Nungua Coffin shop in Legon/Accra
  • Checkin at Pink hostel
  • Group Debriefing
  • Dinner/overnight
Day 28: Tuesday, August 5th
  • Breakfast at the hostel
  • Visit the Lifeline Project/any other Youth Project in Accra

  • Visit the Arts and Craft Market in Accra

Day 29: Wednesday, August 6th - Departure
  • Evaluation (with syto and team leaders)
  • Farewells/final preparations
